Having moved 1 mile down the road for a couple of years, I’m back in my home village of Wray, in the Lune Valley. One of England’s hidden gems, nestled between the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales the Lune Valley has a superb backdrop of Ingleborough and the Howgills creating the perfect landscape which often inspired artists and writers.
For me it’s the picturesque villages with their unique heritage, dotted throughout the Lune Valley amidst some excellent pubs and cafes. From art trails to Scarecrow festivals, there is something for everyone.
Further along the Lune Valley is the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, this vibrant market town has it all, from a local market in the square to fine dining, and walks along the River Lune. It has the most perfect places for picnics, with the famous ‘Ruskins View’ named one of the loveliest views in England by painter and poet, John Ruskin. The streets are lined with old stone buildings filled with some fabulous boutique shops, the ones where you go in needing nothing and come out wanting everything - well worth a look!
The Lune Valley offers homes for all budgets from workers’ cottages, character homes rich in mullioned windows through to castles, whether you’ve got £100,000 or £10,000,000 you can always find something to suit you. Set amongst the villages is a good mix of modern and new build properties which are sympathetically being introduced to the Lune Valley to accommodate people wanting to move into the area. It’s hard to believe that a place so beautiful as the Lune Valley can be so accessible from a ride along then cycle track along the River Lune, or hopping on the mainline to London or Glasgow, or getting on the M6, this area really is well connected.
I have no doubt that anyone looking to make this area their home will love living here. If anyone would like to know more about Lune Valley life – please do get in touch.
