We undertake a variety of auctions from our weekly commitment to Brockholes Arms Auction Mart, to on farm dispersal sale and individual property sales there is an auction situation to suit all.
I was born into a farming family, my grandad and uncle both ran farms, and that’s where I worked during my school holidays. I’ve always wanted to be part of the industry and my mum said I talked so much that I’d be great at the auctions. I took a surveying course at Harper Adams Agricultural College and have worked in land management for a utilities company, in a private practice in Cheshire and in a commercial firm in Manchester before joining Armitstead Barnett as a partner in 2000. I have represented both individuals and companies alike and tackled situations from every point of view.
As Senior Partner I am responsible for the overall running of the firm although I do have assistance via the Practice Manager! I head up the South Lancashire office and property agency and all development work overall. I really enjoy looking at the strategic future of the firm and identifying our route to achieving our next goal. I have been awarded the designation of FRICS which means that I am Fellow of The Rural Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
I now enjoy running (after years of inactivity!) and I completed my first marathon (the Preston Guild Marathon) in October 2012 in a time of 3 hours 51 minutes, a time I since bettered. This raised over £1750 for Derian House. The running has given rise to a love of food and cooking. Subsequently I have completed the Lakeland 50 which is a 50 mile event with a tremendous amount of hill climbing. I have entered into the 2016 Lakeland 100 which is a similarly hilly 105 mile event.
