CAP Update

16th October 2013

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is due to be reviewed in 2014/2015 – a review which is likely to have implications for many of our clients.

The Single Payment Scheme will be replaced by the Basic Payment Scheme and although it will be similar in many ways to its predecessor, there will be some significant changes.

Key among those changes are the greening elements of the new scheme; increased opportunities for young farmers and new entrants into farming; and criteria regarding compliance to the active farmer test.

We can now confirm the English Entitlement system will be rolled over until 2020 – subject to usage rules and compliance.

For further information on the CAP changes and to find out how you may be affected, contact Emma Lowis BSc (Hons) MRICS on 01995 603180.
