Sustainable Farming Incentive Update

21st January 2026

We are pleased to announce that 2026 will see a revised Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme which is set to open in June. First to those not in any Agri environmental agreement (Mid-Tier, Higher-Tier or HLS) and with no live SFI agreement before being open to everyone else in September.

Similar to the last round of SFI, this round will have a set budget therefore is likely to be on a first come first served basis. Early preparation is key.

We recommend getting in touch now to make plans for what might be suitable for your farm. At present we don’t know what the final options will be, however the Rural Payments Agency have suggested streamlining the offer which may mean less actions and area restrictions being in set. Some of these are welcomed changes as 102 actions was a lot! There may even be a cap on the overall amount you can claim but with a pot of money fixed when the scheme opens there is no time to sit and wait.

We offer a whole farm assessment advising on what might be suitable based on the previous SFI actions and your farming system, considering your current and future plans for the holding and help you be ready. Having successfully secured over 150 SFI agreements in the last offer, we can also advise on ‘what works’ giving you real hands-on advice. Once the scheme opens, we can make the process as easy as possible ensuring all the paperwork is complete and the application is submitted for you.

A whole farm assessment also allows us to help advise on other grant opportunities making sure you are not missing out. These include Capital Grants which help improve water and air quality through works such as concreting, roofing, fencing and hedge planting.  We expect this grant to re-open in 2026, although no dates have been confirmed yet. Watch this space!

To enquire, or have an initial conversation about the new offer or grant opportunities please get in touch.
