Despite recent headwinds in the agricultural sector, there was no hesitation in the auction room this/last week — with spirited bidding and a successful result that confirms there’s still strong appetite for quality land in good locations.
First under the hammer was a 2.46-acre parcel of land with stables at Holme, which saw bidders act with confidence, achieving a final sale price of £135,000.
This was quickly followed by a block of quality agricultural land extending to 39.69 acres off Moor Close Lane at Over Kellet. Competitive bidding drove the price to £475,000, reflecting the strong interest in larger, well-located parcels. The sale concluded with 5.34 acres of land at Crosthwaite reaching a solid £54,000.
In a climate where some may have expected buyers to proceed with caution, the result is a welcome sign that well-positioned, versatile land continues to attract strong, genuine demand. The outcome exceeded expectations, highlighting the value that buyers still place on good-quality ground — even amid broader market challenges.
Auctioneer Paul Dennis commented:
“It was great to see buyers stepping up and bidding with real intent. We’re proud to have delivered a strong result for our clients, and it’s encouraging to see such positivity in the room.”
This auction is a clear reminder that when it comes to land with the right fundamentals, the market remains active — and isn’t holding back. With the right marketing and pricing strategy, strong results are still very much achievable.
