£8,600 Per Square Foot…

9th November 2015

An areas’ success or indeed variation in prices, from a property market perspective, are often measured in £ per square metre or £ per square foot.

Standard figures around standard areas (whatever they are!) tend to be quoted in the region of £160 – £200 per square foot throughout the North West of England.  Parts of rural Lancashire tend to buck this trend in a more positive manner but at the end of the day it is all about having a sensible proportion in terms of dwelling size, plot size and position.

In recent times we have had a couple of opportunities that have sold close to a rate of £500 per square foot which is a whopping increase but these were particularly special properties.

Compare this to New York popular with the global super-rich, which means super-prime price, records have been set at £8600 per square foot.  According to the Sunday Times a duplex penthouse at The Pinnacle One57, with views of Central Park, The Hudson and East River and almost every other landmark on the horizon, sold for just over $100,000,000 early this year.

All we can say is that standard type property in the UK is often quoted as being too highly priced for the first time buyer but lets be thankful that we haven’t reached those dizzy heights.

Having said that we are still proud of our achievement in having sold some of the finest property that Rural Lancashire has to offer.
