We love where we work! Canals, history, connectivity and opportunity, Burscough really is the place to be.
The village of Burscough, located in the heart of West Lancashire, is situated just off the A59 with superb connectivity to the M58 and Junction 27 of the M6. Not only connectivity by car but there’s also leisurely transport on the stunning Leeds Liverpool Canal for which there are a host of local marinas and two train stations, one providing commuting routes from Southport through to Manchester, the other at Burscough Junction providing routes from Liverpool through to Preston.
The village itself is truly thriving with growth planned; a new Booths supermarket has recently opened coupled with the longstanding Tesco supermarket. For those not into supermarket sweep there are a whole host of traditional farm shops which are fantastic for the community. On the canal side there is a great development, Burscough Wharf, which is home to several restaurants and independent businesses from a traditional sweet shop to the well known Ceramic Dolls hospital.
In terms of education, there are 5 local primary schools in the village, together with a secondary school and situated within 5 miles of Burscough, in the town of Ormskirk, is the university of the year, Edge Hill.
History is of great importance to Burscough and the surrounding areas with a host of former Country Estates in close proximity including the historic Blythe Hall once the home of King Henry VII and the medieval Lathom Park which is located just on the outskirts and now home to the glass laboratory. There are also a number of places of Worship, with the most prominent in the Village centre, St John’s Church of England, with striking lighting at nightfall.
There are villages just outside Burscough which are also attractive and sought after, including: Rufford, Croston, Mawdesley and Lathom.
Burscough truly caters for a wide market for first time buyers, commuters and life style purchasers. At Armitstead Barnett we have had great successes of late with character and new build properties in strong demand in all the local villages. As a well known productive agricultural village, land has also been in high demand for agricultural, equestrian and life style buyers.
