We moved to Bickerstaffe over three years ago, having lived in Scotland, London and Cornwall for many years.
Our love of Lancashire has been rekindled. Bickerstaffe has extensive views over the countryside to the local church, windmill and beyond to Liverpool and the Welsh Hills. Bickerstaffe is ideally located for motorway links to the M58 and M6 and the Rainford Bypass also offering easy access to the East Lancashire Road.
Bickerstaffe is a very friendly village with a population of around 1000, it has two pub/restaurants – The Stanley Gate Pub and The Sandpipers Inn. The Parish Church, Holy Trinity, is located near to the C.of E. Primary School and Bickerstaffe AFC, on Hall Lane. Starbucks and Subway along with the petrol station, offer an ideal place to stop before heading off to the motorway.
In the seventeenth century, Bickerstaffe was an important local centre of the Quakers in West Lancashire, and the Stocks, sited at the crossroads by the Stanley Gate Pub, is of historical importance to the Village
In August, we have a music festival held over a weekend, aptly titled “Bickerstock”. Featuring up and coming local musicians and established international artists our festival draws increasingly large crowds.
With a diverse range of properties from quaint cottages and bungalows to farms and barn conversions, couples and families alike can enjoy all that the countryside has to offer here, yet within three miles you could be walking around the Market Town of Ormskirk, with its busy markets on a Thursday and Saturday and plenty of shops, schools and amenities.
We love living in Bickerstaffe, enjoy walking our German Shepherd over the well-kept paths through the fields, watching the array of changing colours of the countryside, not to mention the outstanding red sun sets in the evenings!
