Standing at the foot of the Howgills, the perfect base for walkers, Sedbergh has a selection of pubs where you can enjoy traditional English comfort food, whilst browsing many book shops the town has to offer, of course making it England’s official book town!
 
With a choice of excellent pubs such as the Thirsty Rambler, a local butcher at The Meat Hook there is lots to offer. This picturesque location is only a 15-minute country drive away from the M6 motorway and a short 45 minutes to the Lakes, seaside and City of Lancaster. Everything is on your doorstep whilst staying well connected to other local areas. 
 
The renowned Sedbergh school, comprises of a junior and main school along with Settlebeck primary school which provides fantastic educational facilities in the area for those with families looking to make a more permanent move. 
 
4 miles southeast of Sedbergh you will find the cobbled streets of Dent, the only village in Dentdale and possibly the loveliest of the Dales! Famous for its white walled cottages, cafes and pubs full of home baked goodies, if you have never been before, Dent is certainly worth a visit! A fantastic primary school can also be found for those families looking to move to the area. 
 
Dent is also famous for its knitters with both men and woman in the 18th century found knitting whilst walking across the fields. The output of knitted gloves and socks provided an important and supplementary income –  visit the Dent Heritage Centre to learn more about the working lives of Dales folk!
