John Hughes: Settling in at Kendal

12th August 2016

Two months in to my partnership with Armitstead Barnett the level of support from members of the company and so many of the farming community has been beyond my expectations.

A wide variety of work has come forward within the past two months, including development land negotiations, valuation work, utility company claims, landlord and tenant matters and latterly potential land sales.

The agricultural show season is now well under way and having worked on the stand at Great Eccleston Show I was able to catch up with many past acquaintances. The shows are a perfect opportunity to meet clients on an informal basis and get a better understanding of their businesses and needs so that any advice we are called upon to give is given with a more in depth knowledge.

We are now well past the Brexit result and so far there has been no indication that confidence has been reduced in the agricultural land market. We continue to receive enquiries for agricultural land and especially smallholdings. Land and smallholdings close to major road systems are particularly in demand and should any come to the market they would meet strong competition.
