Stay ahead of the new Renters’ Rights Bill

12th June 2025

The Renters’ Rights Bill is one of the most significant pieces of legislation the private rented sector (PRS) has seen in recent years.  Currently at it’s Report Stage in the House of Lords, it is looking likely to be law by late 2025, and now is the time for landlords to be preparing for the change to come.

The abolishment of Section 21 “no fault” evictions allowing landlords to gain possession without giving a reason; the right for tenants to request a pet with landlords not to unreasonably withhold consent; fixed term tenancies reverting to statutory periodic tenancies and the creation of a Private Rented Sector Database are just a few of the changes the Bill will implement.

Whilst the Bill’s ultimate aim is to give tenants greater protection and ensure that landlords are operating fairly, it is becoming clear that there are a lot of landlords unfamiliar with the forthcoming changes.  For some landlords, where they have previously managed their own tenancy, now would be a good time to consider letting us manage the property for you.  By booking a landlord review with us, we can work together to ensure that your tenancy is fully compliant, and you are ready for the changes ahead.
